Cale and Kelly, a husband-and-wife team native to Alabama, work side by side on their family farm with their five sons—Colter, Colin, Silas, Judah, and Levi. Cale thrives as a father, savoring a good hamburger, making music with his guitar, and tackling any task like the jack-of-all-trades he is. Kelly delights in motherhood, the comfort of a home-cooked meal, the rhythm of being a milkmaid, and peaceful hikes through the woods. Together, they’ve raised boys who love the outdoors as much as they do—hunting, fishing, and exploring every hidden corner of the farm they call home.

Indigo Ridge Farms sits nestled in a quiet valley of the southern Appalachian Mountains in northeast Alabama, a landscape shaped by prairie land, hardwood thickets, forest, a winding creek, and lowlands that glisten after rain. Conveniently located halfway between Birmingham and Atlanta, the farm carries deep roots—half of it has been in Kelly’s family since she was a young child. Her memories of exploring its wild places run vivid and strong, and now it’s a dream fulfilled to watch her own children wander the same woods, splash in the same creek, and create new memories on the land that shaped her.

The farm at Indigo Ridge began in 2020 with a leap of faith, when the then family of five stepped away from their city careers and traded dress clothes for farm wear and boots. Determined to recenter their family, nurture their love for working outdoors, and bring a long-held dream to life, they dove headfirst into the world of regenerative agriculture—learning everything they could from conferences, mentors, books, podcasts, and documentaries. They moved back home to Alabama, ready to put their knowledge into practice and their hands in the soil. And from that hopeful, determined beginning, Indigo Ridge Farms was born.
